A pH conductance meter is a specialized equipment of scientists and workers used in laboratory and factory. This tool can measure how acidic or basic something is and how well it conducts electricity. It detects how easily electrical current can pass through a liquid. This current of electricity can also tell us how many of those tiny bits, called ions, are in that liquid.
In many fields, it is critical to understand the pH level. For example, it helps us monitor rivers and lakes for health, test food and drinks for safety, and ensure our drinking water is clean and safe. There are some tasks which need accurate and reliable results thus pH conductivity meters prove to be helpful.
Two electrodes make up a conductivity meter. We place these electrodes in the liquid we want to test. About halfway through, we flip on the switch that starts the meter and electricity flows between these two electrodes through the liquid. The flowing electricity informs us how many ions are present in the liquid. More ions equals more electricity can pass through.
pH meters also use electrodes, but they measure the number of hydrogen ions in the liquid instead. One of the two electrodes is crafted from glass, enabling it to detect changes in acidity or alkalinity. This indicates the release of more hydrogen ions, lowering the acid level. Acid-base sensor: Given that hydrogen ions (H+) affect pH, detecting these ions allows the calculation of the liquid's pH level using a glass electrode.
Environmental Monitoring: Such meters enable scientists to monitor soil, river and lake pH and conductivity levels. These levels are continuously monitored to control pollution at all stages and to stop pollutants from spreading, so this is critical to the environment.
